Putting People First: Our Mid-Winter Team Celebration
At MoMac, we believe great work comes from great people and those people thrive when they feel valued, connected, and celebrated. That’s why, even when times feel a little tough, we double down on what matters most: our people.
This past weekend, we hit pause on the busy day-to-day and came together for our mid-winter work-do, a chance to celebrate, reconnect, and remind ourselves why we do what we do. And honestly? It was one for the books.
Escaping the Routine (Literally)
We kicked things off at Serve Social in Christchurch, where we split into five teams and tackled their famous escape rooms. It was a blast seeing everyone outside of their usual roles, bringing forward problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and just the right amount of healthy competition. There were definitely a few hidden talents unearthed, future escape room champions in our midst!
The first team out earned some bragging rights and a couple of fun prizes, but in true MoMac spirit, it was the laughter, collaboration, and shared chaos that stole the show.
A Challenge Between Stops
On our way to dinner, we ran a quick-fire photo scavenger hunt, where teams had to capture quirky snaps around town. Think: fountains, signs, sculptures, and even a few strangers. It added an extra layer of fun (and silliness) between venues — and, yes, some of the photos might never see the light of day again.
A Shared Table and a Shared Toast
We regrouped at Mumbai Wala, a stunning Indian restaurant in the heart of the city. There was delicious food, heartfelt conversation, and a few more games sprinkled in to keep the energy going. Being able to share a meal together, partners included, felt like the perfect way to acknowledge the year so far and the road ahead.
The night wrapped up at Rock Pool, with teapots shared, music turned up, and a few legendary dance moves to round things out. It was a night of real joy, the kind that fills your tank after a long stretch of hard work.
Why This Matters
2025 hasn’t been without its challenges for us, our industry, and our wider community. But throughout it all, we’ve kept one thing front and centre: our people.
Moments like this aren’t just a perk or a party. They’re a reflection of our culture. They remind us that we’re not just co-workers, we’re a team. A team that’s weathered change, risen to meet new goals, and continued to show up with creativity, drive, and care.
Events like our mid-winter celebration are our way of saying thank you – not just with words, but with actions that bring us together, build memories, and fuel the next chapter.
