MoMac Supports The Great Canterbury Duck Race 2025

Making a Splash for a Great Cause

On Sunday, November 2nd, the Avon River came alive with hundreds of bright yellow ducks as The More FM Great Canterbury Duck Race celebrated its eighth year. Sponsored by MediaWorks and More FM, the event has become a favourite on Christchurch’s community calendar, bringing together families, businesses, and local organisations for a fun-filled afternoon in support of Life Education Trust Canterbury.

This year marked MoMac’s second time taking part in the event, and once again, our team was proud to be involved in raising funds for the Healthy Harold Programme—a cause close to our hearts.

MoMac’s Peacock-Inspired Duck

Our design team had plenty of fun creating this year’s entry for the Business Duck Race. Taking inspiration from a peacock, our corporate duck was painted in MoMac’s signature blue and decorated to stand out on race day. The creativity and teamwork behind our design made the experience even more enjoyable—and gave us an excuse to get a little paint on our hands.

A Family Day Out by the River

Several members of the MoMac team headed down to the Bridge of Remembrance to enjoy the event and cheer on our duck as it floated down the Avon River. It was a perfect spring day in Ōtautahi—ideal for grabbing some food from Riverside Market, sharing fried chicken, chips, and dumplings, and finishing with a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream by the riverbank.

With plenty of laughter, kids’ activities, and the buzz of the crowd, the Duck Race was once again a great reminder of what makes Christchurch such a special place to live and work.

Supporting Our Local Community

At MoMac, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us. Events like The Great Canterbury Duck Race are about more than just fun—they help fund important education initiatives and bring people together in meaningful ways. We’re proud to support Life Education Canterbury and the Healthy Harold Programme, which continue to make a positive difference in local schools.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s race—and to seeing what creative duck designs float down the Avon in 2026.
