MoMac Christmas Work Do | Celebrating the Year in Waipara

Christmas Work Do Recap: A Well-Spent Day with the MoMac team

Some days are for deadlines, meetings and to-do lists. And then there are days that remind you why the people you work with matter just as much as the work itself. Our MoMac Christmas Work Do was very much the second kind of day.

We started slow and steady at River Queen Kaiapoi, easing into the afternoon with lunch by the water. Plates were filled with ham and smoked salmon, the kind of food that instantly sets the tone for a relaxed day ahead. No rush, no agenda, just good food and the chance to properly catch up with everyone away from screens and schedules.

From there, we headed north into Waipara, one of Canterbury’s most loved wine regions. Rolling hills, open skies and vineyards as far as you can see, it’s hard not to feel a little lighter the moment you arrive. Tastings at Torlesse and Greystone gave us the chance to sample some incredible local wines while learning more about what makes Waipara such a special place for winemaking. Between sips, there were plenty of laughs, stories from the year, and those conversations you only seem to have when everyone’s truly switched off.

As the day rolled on, we wrapped things up at Brew Moon in Amberley. Beers were poured, pizzas were shared and chips disappeared quickly, as they always do. It was the perfect way to end the day, relaxed, familiar and full of chatter. We’ve got some little speeches to thank everyone for an awesome year.

Looking back, it really was one of those days where time slowed down in the best way. A day filled with good food, great wine, easy laughs and the simple joy of catching up properly. The kind of day that reminds you that while the work is important, the people you share it with make it all worthwhile.
