MoMac Proud to Support the 2026 Silverstream Duck Race

The Annual Silverstream Duck Race delivered another great day for the North Canterbury community, and we were proud to sponsor and be part of it.

Held at Tirikatene Reserve, the event brought together families, local businesses and community groups for a day built around connection, creativity and a little bit of competition. With strong local support behind it, all proceeds from the duck sales went to the Kaiapoi Menz Shed, an organisation doing valuable work in our region.

A special mention to our friend Brydon and the organising team who once again pulled together a well-run community event.

Our Colouring-In Competition

As part of our sponsorship, the MoMac team ran a kids colouring-in competition from our stall on the day. It was great to see so many young creatives getting involved.

Alongside the competition, we handed out free lollies and lollipops to the kids. A small contribution to the day, and yes, apologies to the parents for the extra sugar levels.

The MoMac Duck

We also entered a duck into the decorating competition. This year’s design featured a black New Zealand theme with the pink MoMac logo, painted in-house by the team.

It looked ready to take on the river. We later discovered the decorated ducks were for display only, but we’ll count that as preparation for next year.

There were some impressive designs on show, and it was great to see the creativity from across the community.

Why We Get Involved

For us, being involved in events like this is about more than just sponsorship. It is about supporting initiatives that bring people together.

As a local business, we value opportunities that create simple family days out for the community. These events give people a chance to connect, meet others and support local causes.

A big thanks to everyone who stopped by our stall and took part in the competition. We are already looking forward to the next duck race.
